Originally from Colombia, Betsy discovered Pilates 2 years ago when she needed to find a way of making enough money to survive while going back to Uni full time. She had only done one pilates class before she signed up for her teacher training course and completely fell in love with the concept of good posture and correct movement patterns for rehab and fitness. Having a few nasty injuries herself, from years of lifting weights and running, she found refuge in pilates. It not only helped her to keep fit and develop a ridiculous amount of core strength, but also to take care of her injuries and understand how and why her body got to that point. By a series of fortunate events, BARRE found Betsy. She taught her first class and was completely hooked – ballet, yoga and pilates all in one, how can you not!? Betsy loves all kinds of expression through movement of the body and tries to incorporate every type of movement she is familiar with in her classes. Her classes are usually strong with plenty of opportunities to let your body be guided into pretty crazy movements in a safe and fun manner. Empowering women to realise their physical and mental strength is one of Betsy’s main focus in her classes along with promoting positive body image. You’ll find that no two classes are the same!
Other things to know about Betsy: She is a scientist (yes!) and a nutritionist in training who loves her cat (Lola) and absolutely loves to dance – especially to Beyonce songs because well…QUEEN B!
